AI Agents 2026: What's Realistic Now?

AI Agents 2026: What's Realistic Now?
AI agents are being discussed everywhere right now. Every other startup calls their product an "agent" and promises to revolutionize business.
I'll admit: I'm genuinely excited about the possibilities of agentic AI technology. But I also notice how easily the conversation slides into hype and unrealistic expectations.
That's why I created the "AI Agents Guide 2026". I wrote this guide specifically for SMEs and teams that want to benefit from agentic solutions without the hype and massive budgets.
Three key observations:
1. Not all "agents" are actually agents. Often it's automation or a workflow that's been labeled an agent for marketing reasons. The distinction matters, because different levels of agentic solutions require completely different organizational capabilities.
2. The biggest value in 2026 lies between the extremes of agentic solutions. Not in simple automation nor in fully autonomous agents, but in agentic workflows that make limited decisions within clearly defined contexts.
3. Technology is rarely the bottleneck. The biggest challenges relate to data, processes, and readiness for change. The good news: preparation doesn't always require major technology investments.
The guide also includes three real-world cases and practical recommendations from different perspectives. (You can find the link to the guide at the bottom of the page.)
What process in your organization would benefit first from agentic solutions?
